Job Title:                                       Ski Patrol 2

Responsible To:                           Ski Patrol Supervisor (2IC), Ski Patrol Manager

Position Summary:

To operate within Safety Services guidelines to maintain the safety of the public, staff and facilities at Treble Cone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete hazard identification and control measures on the field, to ensure safety of the skiing public at Treble Cone
  • Carry out avalanche control procedures as part of a team, as directed by the Snow Safety Officer/Assistant
  • Administer First aid and evacuate injured skiing public and staff from the field
  • Initiate and assist in emergency response procedures as trained
  • Record weather, snow pack and avalanche information/observations
  • Evaluate snow stability and avalanche hazard in the field and report any concerns to the Snow Safety Officer
  • Initiate and control avalanche rescue procedures as trained
  • Participate in on-going training throughout the season to maintain currency and upskill
  • Liaise with other departments regarding safety/hazard management at Treble Cone
  • Communicate hazard status to the skiing public
  • Assist with general mountain duties as required.
  • As problems arise, proactively assist other departments to solve these as tasks
  • Any other tasks as required
  • Should lift breakdowns occur, assist with evacuation of lifts as trained
  • Maintenance of signs, fences and closures


  • Have excellent communication and problem solving skills, be approachable and responsible
  • Interpret and carry out complex and varied tasks, with little supervision and a high level of technical expertise
  • Work with integrity to uphold Treble Cone’s core values of teamwork, honesty, professionalism and respect
  • To consistently provide exceptional Customer Service to all guests, both internal and external
  • Adhere to Treble Cone’s Staff Health and Safety Policy, Processes and in-house Safety Rules as detailed in the Staff Handbook
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and protocols at all times while at work at Treble Cone as set out in the Ski Patrol Manual
  • To comply with Treble Cone’s Injury Prevention System
  • Attend all departmental and company meetings as required
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to the functions and services performed for the Company
  • Maintain a neat, tidy and professional appearance at all times, in compliance with the Treble Cone Uniform and Appearance Policy
  • Demonstrate punctuality and good timekeeping by checking your required hours of work and ensuring you start work on time
  • Accurately record your times of work on a timesheet as required


  • New Zealand Avalanche Safety Management Stage 1 or equivalent
  • New Zealand PHEC (Pre Hospital Emergency Care) or equivalent
  • Approx. 3-4 years’ experience (200-399 days)
  • Approved handler in Snow blasting for hand charging
