Job Title:                 Ski Patrol 2IC

Responsible To:     Ski Patrol Manager

Position Summary:

To supervise the daily operation of the Ski Patrol function ensuring all departmental procedures are run in line with company policies, while safely delivering high levels of guest satisfaction and encouraging staff performance and engagement.

To operate within guidelines to maintain the safety of the public, staff and facilities at Treble Cone. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the effective daily operations of the Safety Services team in the absence of the Ski Patrol Manager
  • Manage the patrol roster when required
  • Liaise with outside agencies regarding safety/rescue when required
  • Supervision and completion of hazard control measures 
  • Recording weather, snow pack and avalanche information
  • Evaluating snow stability and avalanche hazard in the field
  • Carry out avalanche control procedures
  • First aid and evacuation of injured skiing public and staff 
  • Initiate and control avalanche rescue procedures
  • Manage, initiate and assist in emergency response procedures
  • Provide training and participate in on-going training throughout the season
  • Liaise with other departments regarding safety management 
  • Communication of hazard status to the skiing public
  • Liaise with and assist other departments to solve problems  
  • Assist with evacuation of lifts should breakdowns occur

  • Interpret and carry out complex and varied tasks with little supervision and with a high level of technical expertise

  • To consistently provide exceptional Customer Service to all guests, both internal and external
  • Adhere to Treble Cone’s Staff Health and Safety Policy, Processes and in-house Safety Rules as detailed in the Staff Handbook
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and protocols at all times while at work at Treble Cone
  • Comply with Treble Cone’s Injury Prevention programme
  • Attend all departmental and company meetings as required
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to the functions and services performed for the Company
  • Maintain a neat, tidy and professional appearance at all times, in compliance with the Treble Cone Uniform and Appearance Policy
  • Demonstrate punctuality and good timekeeping by checking your required hours of work and ensuring you start work on time
  • Accurately record your times of work on a timesheet as required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • New Zealand Avalanche Safety Management Stage 2 or equivalent
  • New Zealand PHEC (Pre Hospital Emergency Care) or equivalent
  • Min 1-2years’ (500 days) of Avalanche stage 2 or equivalent experience
  • All Approved handler status for explosive use in Snow blasting
  • Relevant people management skills and experience 
  • Enjoys the challenge of a changing environment, can adapt to the needs of the business, customers and staff
  • Is focused on action and delivering solutions
  • Able to take charge of situations and find outcomes and solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several responsibilities and functions at once-is cool under pressure
