                                        Banking / Guest Services Assistant

Location:                Treble Cone, Wanaka

Job Title:                 Banking / Guest Services Assistant

Responsible To:     Guest Services Supervisor, Sales Manager

Position Summary:

To keep accurate records of the commercial departments’ daily takings in a professional and confidential manner. Responsible for obtaining, supplying and maintaining adequate floats to service all of the Mountain's facilities. This is a job share role with Guest Services.

Key Responsibilities:

Banking:

  • Balance and report on the safe count for both Guest Services and Food & Beverage departments.
  • Place change orders as required.
  • File daily vouchers and discounts as trained.
  • Reconcile and record daily banking for all departments.
  • Adhere to all security procedures regarding cash storage and handling as trained.
  • Endeavour to resolve discrepancies in banking and report these to the Guest Services Manager.

 Guest Services:

  • To perform daily tasks, including phone reception, general inquiries, sales of lift passes, season pass, rentals, packages and lessons as well as keeping our guests up to date with important on-mountain updates, weather and snow conditions.
  • Communicate clearly all products, discounts, promotions in a friendly and engaging manner.
  • Keep full and accurate records of the day’s transactions with specific recording of any variation from normal transactions as trained (e.g. special discounts).
  • Accurately record all incoming wholesale vouchers and promotional offers.
  • Reconcile and balance your daily sales and forward onto Banking Assistant on duty.
  • Any other duties as required.

 Accountabilities:

  • The ability to work unassisted in the banking room with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • To be knowledgeable about all Treble Cone products and ticket options as trained.
  • Have strong problem solving skills.
  • Work with integrity to uphold Treble Cone’s core values.
  • To consistently provide outstanding Customer Service to all guests, both internal and external and to ensure they have the right information, products and the best options for our conditions.
  • Adhere to Treble Cone’s Staff Health and Safety Policy, processes and in-house Safety Rules as detailed in the Staff Handbook.
  •  Attend all departmental and company meetings as required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to the functions and services performed for the Company.
  • Maintain a neat, tidy and professional appearance at all times, in compliance with the Treble Cone Uniform and Appearance Policy.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and good timekeeping by checking your required hours of work and ensuring you start work on time.
  •  Accurately record your times of work on a timesheet as required.
  • Use own discretion in resolving complaints with a good understanding and awareness of mountain and department policies with the support of Guest Services Manager.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Previous experience in a book keeping or cash office role and balancing sales and takings is preferred.
  • Have local knowledge of Wanaka and the tourism industry, with previous customer experience in a fast paced sales environment is desirable.
  • Have intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Background in a ski or tourism industry.
